About

Hello and welcome to The Figure in Question!

This humble little site is the result of a project of mine gone slightly wild.  In the summer of 2012, I began cataloging my rather immense action figure collection, which in turn led to me deciding I’d photograph every single figure individually.  With those crazy ideas in motion, in the fall of 2013, I decided to go for broke and throw another crazy idea into the mix: reviewing every figure in my collection!

Each day I review one figure (or set of figures) from my collection.  My plan is to continue doing so until I’ve reviewed ever last figure I own.  At this site’s inception, my collection was just shy of 2400 unique pieces, but it’s since made its way well past 3000 and continues to grow, so with any luck, this site may never reach an end!

So, that’s pretty much it…

  1. Hello, you’ve got an amazing memory of figures past! I wonder if you can help me identify a figure: It’s in this ebay listing (below), it appears to be a Spider-Man body from the Toy Biz Web Trap line (and Sneak Attack line), but with a Peter Parker head. I’ve never seen this before (and probably should have bought this set). It appears to be factory made, as it’s not just the head that’s different, but a bunched up mask behind the head. Thanks for any help you could provide, even if just to direct me elsewhere!

  2. Wow! If I wasn’t impressed with your encyclopedic knowledge before…
Thanks for the tip! I’d actually seen that figure a few times before, and literally no one seemed to know it’s origin. Big thanks again; looking forward to more reviews and seeing some more obscure figures on the site.

  3. Hey Ethan; happy belated birthday! Hitting the figure aisles sounds like a good use of a bday for me!
Your review of the Freddie Mercury figure inspired me to get that figure.
However, i have another figure related question: do you know where the cane came from in this custom? It apparently was originally all black:

Thanks for anything you might have on that!

    • Thanks for the birthday wishes! Glad I was able to convince you to pick up an awesome figure!
I’ve done some looking around, and I’m not having any luck I.D.ing the cane. If I had to guess, I’d say it might be from a wrestling figure, or something along those lines. I know they tend to have rather eclectic accessories, but I’m not immediately familiar with them. Still, I’ll keep an eye out and see if anyone else might know where it came from.
